Wills: I hope this will stop Harry from scrounging in my fridge

Brother pokes fun as Kate is ‘thrilled’

PRINCE William said yesterday he was delighted to hear of Harry’s engagement, because it should put an end to him raiding his fridge.

He poked fun at visits by his brother, whose Nottingham Cottage home is near his apartment at Kensington Palace, during an official visit to Finland.

And William may also be pleased to hear Meghan’s mum is said to be planning to follow her to the UK – meaning she will have help keeping Harry in line.

Speaking in Helsinki William, 35, said: “We’re all excited, delighted for them and wishing them all the happiness in this exciting time. And for me personally I hope it means he stays out of my fridge, it will stop him scrounging off all my food, he’s done over the last few years.”

Wife Kate, 35, who said on Tuesday she was “thrilled” at the news, was also on duty. She met children at Robin Hood Primary in Kingston, South West London – whose insect home is called Bug-ingham Palace.

She told them: “I’ve got fond memories of being in the garden and outside from my childhood and I’m sharing that with my own children.”

And hoping to forge more precious memories with Meghan, her mum Doria Radlan could be set to quit California. Pals say the 61-year-old wants to be closer to her after she marries Harry, 33, in May.

CLOSE

A neighbour said: “Doria is extremely close to Meghan. Although she has lived apart while Meghan films, Doria feels the 5,000 miles across the Atlantic is too much. Harry and Meghan have spoken about their desire to start a family and Doria wants to be there every step of the way for her daughter.”

Suits actress Meghan, 36, from LA, will become a British citizen ahead of her big day, allowing Doria to apply for a UK Family Visa.

Meanwhile, intelligence experts warn the wedding is a “massive security risk” because Harry has admitted killing Taliban fighters in Afghanistan in 2012.

Prof Anthony Glees, from Buckingham University, said: “Harry is a massive security risk because of his war service. The wedding will be an iconic event. I would be surprised if security concerns were not the chief reason Windsor rather than Westminster was chosen.”

But despite fears, there was speculation that thousands of members of the public could enter Windsor Castle’s grounds for the bash under a ballot system.

Harry and Meghan have already hinted that they are looking at ideas on how to make people feel involved.

One option floated yesterday echoed the 1999 wedding of Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones, who used a ticket lottery to select 8,000 people to visit the castle grounds.
