HOW TO FIND DREAM ROLE

-

Struggling to land your dream job? We’ve teamed up with Darren Ryemill, founder of the Opus Talent Solutions Group – a recruitment and talent development firm launched in 2008, now with a £100million turnover and 250 staff across the UK, USA and Europe – for his top tips:

Wellbeing is vital when job hunting and at work. A healthy person who makes time for friends, family and outside interests is more likely to be happy and motivated – and to be a better job candidate. It’s about the rounded person, not just the CV.

Recruitment firms often contact people who aren’t currently job hunting. Be openminded when approached on LinkedIn or at networking events.

Equally, you can put the feelers out yourself – be honest if you’re not currently looking for a change but would welcome future contact if a certain role becomes available.

A long-term relationship with a recruiter is important, the more they know you, the more they can help when the time is right.

Not all recruitment firms are cut from the same cloth. Find one that specialises in your chosen sector.

To set yourself apart from the pack, you have to demonstrate passion. The more you show genuine enthusiasm for your work, the more attractive you’ll be to employers.

Energy and enthusiasm can go a long way, even if skills, qualifications and experience aren’t quite there yet. Don’t underestimate how much your personality counts.
