MO LEFT TO BABYSIT

- BY ALEX SPINK

SIR MO FARAH will not attend tomorrow’s Sports Personality of the Year show in person – because he is minding the kids. Farah (left) is third favourite behind Anthony Joshua and Lewis Hamilton for an award he has never come close to winning – despite being Britain’s most successful ever athlete. The 34-year-old describes this last 12 months as ”amazing”.

And no wonder as he has been knighted, won a 10th global gold medal at the world championships in London and claimed a record fourth successive Great North Run title.

For all his track success, Farah has never finished higher in the BBC awards than third, in 2011, and after placing only fourth last year – despite retaining his two Olympic titles in Rio – asked what more he had to do.

Yet he insists his decision not to attend is down to logistics.

Farah said: “My family and I are in the middle of moving back to the UK and I’m looking after all four of the kids while my wife Tania is in the US packing up the last of our stuff. But I will be on a live link-up from London.”
