OXFORD UNITED owner Robert Maxwell was under fire for cashing in on the club’s televised League Cup tie against Manchester United. Maxwell was demanding £1,000 from firms for pitchside advertisin­g boards for the game – up from £300 a year.

Cash-strapped Nottingham Forest lost their England full-back Viv Anderson on the cheap, selling him to Arsenal for £250,000.
