FROOME: I’M TOTALLY CLEAN

CHRIS FROOME has insisted he is not a drugs cheat and admitted his adverse test is “quite horrible”.

The four-time Tour de France winner (right) had twice the permitted levels of asthma drug salbutamol in his system when tested and says he wants to clear his name as quickly as possible.

Froome, who also won the Vuelta a Espana this year, has always maintained he is a clean athlete.

“I do completely get it, I understand absolutely,” said Froome on the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. “I’m asthmatic. I have been since I was a child. I use a puffer. I would never take more puffs than I’m allowed. This is quite a horrible situation.”
