MARCO SILVA insists Watford’s slump has nothing to do with him being linked to the Everton job and their rash of red cards – although the evidence on both counts suggests otherwise. One point from five games, and five red cards this season, including three in as many games after Troy Deeney was sent off against Huddersfield, has dispersed the autumn optimism at Vicarage Road. But former Hull boss Silva, twice denied permission to talk to the Merseyside club before Blues made Sam Allardyce, their new gaffer, does not believe his players have lost faith in him.

Silva (above) said: “It doesn’t make sense, this link. Of course I am not happy with this result but I am not worried.

“Just as we were not the best team in the Premier League five games ago, we are not the worst now – I am sure of that.

“And of course we need to be more careful in some moments, but we are not an unfair team.”

Watford winger Andre Carrillo claimed: “We have not noticed any difference since the manager was linked with the Everton job.

“We work for the manager, even stronger than before.

“He was angry after the game but he was not the only one. It’s not the end of the world but we need to get the next three points as soon as possible.” MILLWALL MIDDLESBROUGH MOTM JED WALLACE (MILLWALL) 2 1
