TAKING food from the mouths of a million hungry poor children by axing their free school meals is nasty, even by the callous standards of uncaring modern Tories.

Universal Credit is making the most desperate in our country worse off rather than, as Tories dishonestly claim, making work pay.

The same party that is using the supposed simplifying of the welfare system to cheat low earners and the unemployed is showering tax cuts on big corporations and banks.

If how the vulnerable are treated is a test of a civilisation, then these Tories are barbarians.
