U.S pins blame for huge NHS cyber attack on North Korea
THE US has for the first time publicly blamed North Korea for the cyber attack that shut down parts of the NHS.
President Donald Trump’s homeland security adviser Tom Bossert said Kim Jong-un’s regime was “directly responsible”.
He said: “After careful investigation the US publicly attributes the massive WannaCry cyber attack to North Korea. It was cowardly, costly and careless. The attack was widespread and cost billions.” Here 48 NHS trusts were hit, with nearly 20,000 appointments cancelled in May. Across 150 countries around 300,000 computers were affected. Foreign Office minister Lord Ahmad said the Lazarus Group in the rogue state was the likely culprit, adding: “We commit ourselves to combat destructive criminal use of cyber space.”
