Living in a vintage era

-

Dear Biz

I love all things vintage and like giving good quality pieces a new lease of life, and a new home, via my small business, The Beauty of Vintage. I used to have a shop but sadly I became seriously ill and had to close it.

I’m now back on my feet and running my business again, selling lots of gorgeous vintage bits from tea sets to candlesticks, vases, jugs and all sorts of other bits and pieces via Facebook (facebook. com/thebeautyofvintage).

I also have a stall most weekends at Tynemouth Station Market, on the North East coast. I’m wondering if you can give me any advice on boosting business and getting the attention of a bigger audience.

Buying vintage is really popular as more people are rebelling against the plastic throw-away society we live in, for quirkier pieces which are made to last.

Make sure you post regularly, featuring pretty pictures of fab new finds and the usual bits you have to sell – as well as fun and informative posts on trends, fascinating facts and interesting news in the world of vintage and interiors. You need to create a home for those who love vintage to keep coming back to.

These will be your customers, the people waiting for your next post and those who collect various items from difference eras, and who are ready to make their next purchase.

Promote the days you are at the market so people know when you are around and mention the type of items you sell. People will want to see the quality and condition before buying – and getting them to view things in person may tempt them to buy even more.
