Laser yobs to face jail time

YOBS who shine laser pens at trains, buses or boats could face up to five years in jail under a crackdown.

Currently it is only a specific offence to target planes or helicopters.

The Government plans would also end the need for prosecutors to prove offenders meant to endanger a vehicle. A £2,500 limit on fines will be axed.

Lasers shined at vehicles can dazzle. Aviation Minister Baroness Sugg said it can have “potentially fatal consequences”.
