Abandon ship
BRITAIN’S defence is in hot water when all six of the Royal Navy’s new £1billion Type-45 destroyers are tied up in Portsmouth instead of patrolling the high seas.
The military’s senior service is undermined when the need for modifications, repairs and crews keeps these vessels in port, while the recently launched £3.1billion Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier is already leaking water.
Sailors and commanders are entitled to be furious at embarrassing defects in expensive equipment delivered to the Royal Navy.
We’ve known for a long time the Tory regime was sinking, but we didn’t expect them to take the Navy with them.
