All ears for Judi’s barking facts
One of my favourite festive games is spotting those odd little programmes that scream end-of-year clear-out.
I thought we’d hit peak randomness when Channel 5 devoted an hour and a half of primetime viewing to its decidedly unseasonal countdown, Britain’s Favourite Biscuit, on Tuesday night.
Then I watched last night’s 8pm offering on BBC One. At first glance
looked like it had come straight from the Alan Partridge book of programme ideas.
The opening shots of Judi little more festive. It didn’t last long, though. In true Attenborough style, Judi was on a journey through the seasons, so the snow was soon replaced by fresh leaves.
Speaking of Attenborough, Judi certainly gave her fellow national treasure a run for his money in the fascinating facts department.
I particularly enjoyed the section on pests, during which we discovered trees use a subtle method of communication to help see off invaders.
I take it all back, Judi. Slyly getting rid of unwelcome guests is surely what Christmas is all about.
