BANG TO WIGHTS
Shooter at party is identified due to his speech defect
A MASKED gunman identified because he pronounced his R’s as W’s has been jailed for 25 years.
Perry Wilson, 24, shouted “Wico” before shooting Rico Rodrigues in the chest outside a party, an Old Bailey jury heard.
Mr Rodrigues, also 24, realised it was Wilson because of his speech impediment known as rhotacism. They had rowed over a girl.
He was saved by Jerome Joseph, an Army private who stemmed his wound at the do in Hammersmith, West London.
Prosecutor Paul Cavin said: “He remembered Jerome coming to his aid.” Wilson, of no fixed address, was convicted of attempted murder and possession of a firearm. Khalid Amer, of no fixed address, was jailed for two years eight months for aiding an offender.
