Mac: Wilf power will keep us up

JAMES McARTHUR feels Wilfried Zaha is on a one-man mission to fire Crystal Palace to safety.

Palace have lifted themselves off the bottom and up to 14th spot following a seven-match unbeaten run.

And their revival owes much to 25-year-old Zaha, who has been in red-hot form since returning from injury in October.

Manchester City have joined the queue of clubs who fancy the Ivorian and Palace team-mate McArthur said: “Wilf’s on fire right now and he’s a pleasure to play with.

“Every time you give him the ball he is creating something. There is always a buzz when he is on the ball and the fans love him.

“You can see how hard he works for the team. He loves the club. And he’s so determined to do well in every game.”

Roy Hodgson’s side can give themselves further breathing space away from the drop zone by beating struggling Swansea at the Liberty on Saturday.

Striker Christian Benteke is banned and misses out but midfielder McArthur says Palace, who are just five points from a place in the top half of the table, have shown they can cope without their main men.

He said: “We’ve had some players miss games recently but everyone is pulling together and whoever comes in will do a good job.

“We are playing with confidence right now and look like we can score in every game. Rather than looking down, we are looking to catch the teams above us.”
