Korey gory Man United
SMITH KNOCKS OUT HOLDERS WITH INJURY-TIME STUNNER
KOREY SMITH grabbed a stoppage-time winner to dump Manchester United out of the League Cup.
Championship side Bristol City stunned Jose Mourinho’s men by knocking the holders out in last night’s quarter-final.
Smith showed immense composure as he chested a pass down before slotting his shot on the turn past United
keeper Sergio Romero. The strike created incredible scenes inside Ashton Gate as Robins fans realised they were witnessing one of the greatest moments in their club’s history.
Smith said: “It’s unbelievable, I don’t know what to say. We played brilliantly like we have all season. I wasn’t being tracked when I made the runs forward.
“I joined Bristol City when we were in League One with three stands. We have been brilliant this season.”
City took the lead in the 51st minute when Joe Bryan thumped a shot into the top corner of the United goal.
But seven minutes later, United were level when Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted his first goal since his return from seven months out following a horror knee injury, smashing in a 25-yard free-kick.
