Bad ads get us animated

ANNOYING or repetitive TV ads are more memorable than those with celebritie­s, a study found.

Sofa firm DFS’ animated ads, mocked for seeming to promote perennial sales, topped viewer recall polls through the year.

Oak Furniture Land, with its “knock on wood” slogan, was second, the report for trade journal Campaign said.

Analysts Ebiquity, which did the survey, said: “Use of celebritie­s is starting to feel a bit old-hat.”
