Parliament pop-up trial cost £600k
PARLIAMENT has been slammed for spending £600,000 on a pop-up chamber in case of a terror attack, fire or flood.
Dozens of MPs and peers took part in the exercise at Westminster’s Methodist Central Hall, where stackable chairs stood in for traditional leather benches.
James Price, of the TaxPayers’ Alliance, said this was “overkill” and “wasteful”.
But Parliament last night insisted the project was “value for money”.
A spokesman said: “We need to roadtest our business continuity plans in order to ensure that Parliament can maintain critical activities.”
