Jones is stung by Wasps duo

- BY ADAM HATHAWAY

EDDIE JONES has been dealt a double whammy with England’s Elliot Daly and Nathan Hughes both in danger of missing the entire Six Nations.

The pair’s club, Wasps, confirmed that wing Daly would need up to 12 weeks off with an ankle injury.

And No.8 Hughes has been ruled out for between eight and 10 weeks with knee ligament trouble.

The duo, and Wasps’ Kiwi star Jimmy Gopperth, were both crocked in Sunday’s 21-3 Champions Cup win over La Rochelle.

And it is a hammer blow for England coach Jones with the Red Rose starting their Six Nations campaign against Italy on Sunday, February 4, in Rome.

Hughes stood in for Billy Vunipola at No.8 during the autumn, but the big Saracen is expected to return to Premiership action in the next couple of weeks after a knee injury.

And Exeter wing Jack Nowell could slot in for Daly after returning from a fractured cheek against Leinster last weekend.
