Teen gets life term for fatal stabbing after egg row

-

VICTIM Jamanoor Islam A TEENAGER who stabbed a student to death after a row over throwing eggs has been jailed for life with a minimum of 16 years.

Jamanoor Islam, 20, bled to death in his mother’s arms in hospital after an artery was cut when he was knifed in the leg and beaten with a baseball bat. Inner London crown court was told the 16-year-old killer, who had a record of violence, “had a deep interest in knives” and months before the stabbing had sent the message: “I may be small but I can do serious damage with a Rambo [knife].”

Nayeem Chowdhury, Ismail Uddin, and Samiur Rahman, all 18 and from Tower Hamlets, East London, were convicted of conspiring to commit actual bodily harm and jailed for 18 months.

The court was told horseplay had escalated into incidents which involved egg throwing after Mr Islam’s brother Nazmul, 18, had tossed a bottle of milkshake from his father’s BMW, accidentally striking Chowdhury and Uddin.

When the attackers came across Jamanoor, rather than Nazmul, an argument led to the fatal attack in Mile End, East London, on April 11.

Judge Jeremy Donne told the killer, of Ilford: “You were and remain a dangerous young man.”
