Biker’s road ban for using hoverboard
A TOP motorcycle racer nicknamed Mad Max has got a six-month drive ban for riding an uninsured electric hoverboard on a public road.
Max Hunt, 34, was on the 10mph Airwheel when he was spotted by a police officer in Central London.
He was prosecuted in one of the first cases of its kind in Britain.
Hunt told Wimbledon magistrates he thought the board was “just a toy” and did not know it needed insurance. He added: “My wife’s parents gave it to me for Christmas.”
District Judge James Henderson called his failure to find out the rules “thoughtlessness”.
Hunt, of Notting Hill, West London, admitted using the device with no insurance.
