LET’S PARTY LIKE IT’S 1975

That’s the last time Burnley were above Spurs for a match in the top flight (and the result way back then... Burnley 3 Tottenham 2)

- BY ALEX SMITH

BURNLEY have waited almost 43 years to lord it over Tottenham – but finally they are above them again.

The Clarets last played Spurs while higher in the top flight way back on April 12, 1975 – when the Bay City Rollers topped the charts.

Spurs’ legendary keeper Pat Jennings (right) and Co were almost singing Bye Bye Baby to the First Division as they survived relegation by only one point – while the Clarets finished sixth.

Burnley won 3-2 that day, but can Sean Dyche’s 21st century stars repeat the feat?
