SAM TARGETS TWO SIGNINGS
SAM ALLARDYCE has revealed he hopes to sign a striker and defender in the January window.
And the Everton boss admitted that means he probably will not be able to join the race for Sevilla star Steven Nzonzi – even though he is a huge admirer of the midfielder.
Big Sam (above) is already looking up at the European places after steering his new club away from the drop zone to the top half of the table, after a five-game unbeaten run since he arrived. And as he prepared to face Chelsea today, he admitted his negotiations before taking the job included a guarantee he would be allowed to sign new players in January.
“I know there is money available to spend,” he said. “I wouldn’t envisage us getting more than two in. I don’t think we need more than two.
“I would be interested in Nzonzi, but have a look at how many footballers there are at this club.”
And asked if he wanted a striker and defender, he replied with a huge smile: “Good guessing.”
