SLIPPERS OFF, BOOTS ON FOR RHINO MYLER
RICHIE MYLER will swap Alan Partridge slippers for playing boots, as he bids to make an early impression for Leeds today.
The 27-year-old half-back will make his Rhinos debut against Wakefield, in the traditional festive friendly, after switching from Catalans.
He has spent most of the first six weeks of his Leeds career at a city hotel, while he waited for the keys to his new Yorkshire base.
Myler had Christmas Day with TV presenter wife Helen Skelton and their two sons, at her parents’ farmhouse in Cumbria, before returning south to his hotel bed.
But he insists it is worth the sacrifice as he looks to make an impact with the Super League champions.
Myler said: “The hotel has really looked after me, but I’ve been a bit like Alan Partidge walking round in my slippers.
“I’ll have to have reined in the Christmas dinner a bit, but at least I’ll have been with Helen and the boys on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
“The game should be a good spectacle for the fans and it’s my first crack at pulling on a Leeds shirt.
“Pre-season has been good, but there’s only so much training you can do – I’m ready to play now.”
