Praying with the hashtag generation

-

THE Archbishop of Canterbury sent a Christmas message on Twitter, celebrating how a baby “born in the lowest place” went on to outshine the world’s most powerful leaders.

The Most Rev Justin Welby put a modern twist on his festive reflections by publishing a thread with a hashtag, GodWithUs.

In Rome, the Pope spoke of the suffering “in the faces of little children”, because of war and other tensions in the Middle East, Africa and the Korean Peninsula.

Pope Francis told the faithful who gathered in St Peter’s Square that “the winds of war are blowing in our world”.

He said children in the Middle East “continue to suffer because of growing tension between Israelis and Palestinians”. He prayed “confrontation may be overcome on the Korean Peninsula”.

Children who survived the Grenfell fire gave Channel 4’s alternative Christmas message.
