JAPES Miranda keeps the Christmas celebrations going strong BBC2, 9pm

Every syllable uttered by this man has brought us more joy than a box set of Downton Abbey. It has been 25 years since sports reporter Alan Partridge was given his own BBC radio chat show.

And now, two radio series, five TV series, four specials, two books and one movie later, this documentary looks back at the journey of Alan.

There’s even an interview with the man behind the man himself, Steve Coogan, who confesses you should be careful what you wish for. “I was told people will be shouting ‘Aha!’ at you from across the road. And that’s what happens now.”

Including interviews with writers and performers, plus unseen clips and footage, this is a bit of a Partridge nerdfest, but a real treat for all fans. C4, 9pm

“WELL, hello-ho-ho” shouts Miranda Hart, and already we love this. Antlers on, mistletoe in place, roaring log fire, David Tennant in a stylish Christmas jumper. What’s not to love? SUCH FUN.
