TREAT Partridge nerdfest

BBC1, 8pm “Christmas won’t be Christmas without any presents.” So begins this latest adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s beloved novel, immediately sparking a nostalgic outbreak of goosebumps.

Anyone who’s ever read the book or seen a previous version will have sobbed their way through this classic before, because, well you know... THAT terrible thing happens. And this latest adaptation doesn’t disappoint, staying faithful to the marvellous story about the March sisters (Amy, Jo, Meg and Beth) as they grow into young women, dealing with gender roles, sibling rivalry, first love, loss and marriage.

In this second part, Marmee (Emily Watson) tends to her sick husband, while the March sisters fend for themselves. And as it rattles towards tomorrow night’s conclusion, you’ll need to brace yourselves.
