Cristiano Ronaldo after he broke two records in one game with a hat-trick as Spurs swept past Southampton.
He eclipsed Alan Shearer with 39 Premier League goals in a calendar year – three more than the former England skipper managed 22 years ago – and overtook Lionel Messi with 56 goals for club and country in 2017.
Tottenham boss Pochettino said: “Both achievements are massive. To break the Premier League record set by Alan Shearer and then you see the last seven, eight or nine years always Messi and Cristiano and today it’s Harry Kane, a player from Tottenham, it’s a massive achievement.
“For me, he’s world class. Of course Messi and Cristiano are different. Today, one striker in the world, a specific position, who’s better than him? He’s shown to everyone he’s one of the best.
“We also feel it’s our achievement, something we share with his team-mates and the club.”
