PARD LUCK STORY WILL SOON END

- BY JAMES NURSEY

ALAN PARDEW believes West Brom are on a “knife-edge” as they continue to search for their first victory since August.

The Baggies dominated against Everton but failed to find a way through and have not won in 18 Premier League games.

With Albion in the drop zone, Pardew (above), who was appointed manager last month, said: “I thought it was about as disciplined a 90 minutes as I have seen in terms of controlling the game.

“We had some lovely moments without actually hitting the back of the net. “But there is frustration and it is about keeping that in check. We’re on that knife-edge at the end of games.”

Albion have picked up three points this month, all from goalless draws, but Pardew is confident a win is not far away.

“Nine times out of 10 you win that game,” he added. “It’s not often you see the ball flashed across the goal as much as that without a touch.

“We missed a couple of chances early. Whether that affected our strikers I don’t know.

“I couldn’t ask the rest of the team to do more than they did.

“Everton are on a decent run and defended great but it’s a shame we couldn’t get that win.

“It would have been a significant win. We have to keep hanging in there until such times as they come.”

West Brom remain 19th in the table, three points from safety. Their last win came at Burnley in the second game of the season.

“We’ve 17 games to go,” said Pardew. “If we can play at the level we just have I’ll be very, very happy and we will get enough points.”
