Villain of Star Wars cantina dies aged 87
STAR Wars actor Alfie Curtis passed away on Boxing Day, aged 87.
He played Dr Evazan, who threatened Luke Skywalker in the classic Mos Eisley cantina scene in 1977 saga opener Star Wars: A New Hope.
Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill led tributes to the East Londoner.
Hamill, 66, said: “Alfie made the cantina scene – one of the most memorable I’ve ever been a part of – even more memorable.
“As horrific as he was on-camera, off-camera he was funny, kind and a real gentleman.”
Curtis also starred in 1980’s The Elephant Man and TV series Cribb.
The Star Wars franchise lost Princess Leia actress Carrie Fisher on December 27 last year.
