Toon’s Mit set to quit

ALEKSANDAR MITROVIC is tired of sitting on the bench and will quit Newcastle.

The Serbian striker has been frozen out by boss Rafa Benitez and will be available for £12million.

He has been a fringe player behind Joselu and Dwight Gayle this season.

Mitrovic said: “I have waited for my chance over the past months – and it hasn’t happened.

“I’m sorry, but it’s time for me to find the best solution for my career.

“I tried to be honest with myself and my team-mates at training and matches.

“And the fact that I did not get a chance is simply not down to me.”
