Not everyone pays
HOSPITAL parking charges were scrapped in 2008 in Scotland and Wales, as they are the responsibility of devolved governments. Visitors do have to pay at a few hospitals because their parking is run by private contractors. Fees are allowed in Northern Ireland. But in England the NHS has only guidelines on how much and when to charge. These state that fees “should be reasonable for the area” and concessions ought to be available to the disabled and frequent visitors.
