What was my favourite thing about Emmerdale? Leaving...

Adam’s bitter parting shot at soap

EMMERDALE actor Adam Thomas has sniped that the highlight of his time on the soap has been “leaving” it.

ITV viewers have seen his character Adam Barton put in prison after taking the rap for a murder his mum Moira Dingle committed.

His response came after a fan asked him on Twitter the best thing about being on the show as his final scenes are aired this week. The 29-year-old actor quipped: “Leaving.”

Adam, who came third on I’m A Celebrity last year, suggested the reason for departing from Emmerdale – named Best British Soap at the Soap Awards – was lack of exposure.

Another fan posted: “Gutted that even in your last week Emmerdale aren’t giving you the airtime you deserve.” Adam used crying emojis and replied: “I’m used to it, but thanks anyway. Just to be part of that show is good enough for me.” His older brother, former Coronation Street star Ryan, 33, has relocated to Australia to join Neighbours.

And Adam’s twin Scott launched a reality TV career last year after taking part in Love Island.

Adam, who is appearing in panto Jack and the Beanstalk in Newcastle, joined Emmerdale in 2009. His wife Caroline Daly is expecting a sister to their three-year-old Teddy.

He revealed in May he would be leaving following reports of a row with soap bosses over his lucrative panto role. In a statement he said: “I’ve had an amazing eight years.”
