Missing girl’s body ‘most likely’ in sea
POLICE say it is “most likely” that a student who went missing on Boxing Day ended up in the sea.
Sophie Smith, 21, was wearing a vest and shorts when she left her home in Gorleston, Norfolk, at 3am.
CCTV shows Sophie, who suffered from depression, running to the beach.
Police and the coastguard are using tidal analysis to search for her body.
Inspector Will Drummond said: “There’s a degree of pre-planning to her disappearance. This, combined with her mental state, suggest the most likely scenario is that she has gone into the sea.”
Sophie – a biomedicine student at the University of East Anglia – has not accessed her bank or social media accounts since she went missing.
