Target for Big Sam is a scorer
SAM ALLARDYCE says securing a goal-scorer is his priority – after Everton failed to register a shot on target against Manchester United.
Everton are trying to sign Cenk Tosun from Besiktas, with Big Sam acknowledging the importance of bringing in a striker this month.
The Toffees have scored just once in their last four Premier League games and Allardyce admitted: “Our attacking powers are limited – that’s why I’ve worked so hard on keeping clean sheets.
“We need to strengthen the front line. We’re trying to do the hardest job by securing a player in that position.
“We’re trying and until that happens, we have to maintain our defensive solidarity.
Allardyce is still waiting to learn if Everton have been successful with their £25million bid for Tosun.
“We’ve done all we can,” he said. “We’ll know in the next 24 hours if we’re successful or not.
“We need a bigger scoring threat than we have at the moment. I can’t guarantee whoever we get in will score goals straightaway, I just hope he does when we do.”
