DRONE STOPS PLAY
A DRONE forced players off the pitch during Yeovil’s League Two match with Crawley yesterday. The game was delayed for 11 minutes, with security staff at Huish Park making
sure the surrounding area was safe before the game resumed. Yeovil were holding Crawley 1-1 despite being down to nine men after two first-half red cards.
But Thomas Verheydt (above, left) scored a winner for Crawley halfway through 17 minutes of added time.
Yeovil confirmed police were investigating the incident and said: “Officials removed the players from the field of play for safety reasons, incurring an 11-minute delay.
“As part of the club’s own protocol regarding safety concerns, stewards and security staff were deployed across the Huish Park site to investigate.”
Yeovil’s Connor Smith and Omar Sowunmi were sent off in separate incidents in the first half.
