JO KONTA struggled before beating Ajla Tomljanovic in the second round of the Brisbane Open. The British No.1 (left) faced 13 break points in the first set, but won out 4-6 6-1 6-4. Konta, who also had a hard opener against Madison Keys, said: “It’s great to have two tough matches early on.”

Kyle Edmund beat Canadian Denis Shapovalov 6-7 7-6 6-4 in the men’s first round.
