ENGLAND boss Eddie Jones has defended under-fire skipper Dylan Hartley insisting his poor club form is irrelevant to his Test standing.

Hartley (above) was savaged by Red Rose legend Lawrence Dallaglio during his commentary on Northampton’s 50-21 capitulation against Harlequins on Saturday.

Jamie George and Tom Dunn are chasing Hartley’s England spot, but Jones said: “Some guys are poor club players and great international players. Dylan brings strong leadership and we need that.”
