Sir David’s ups and downs on Dragon show
Sir David Attenborough has said he may stop working when he “can’t walk up and down steps any more”, but insists it will not be any time soon. The 91-year-old broadcaster says he “dreads” not working, but says he still managed to walk up a spiral staircase several times in order to get the right shot for his new documentary, Attenborough And The Sea Dragon. He tells the Radio Times: “I did it at least six times because of these bloody directors. If I can’t walk up and down steps any more, that will stop me. “Yes, I do dread not working, although there are things I can do without running up steps six times – books to be written, things I’ve never got round to.” The Blue Planet II creator said: “At the moment it seems to be all right.” Sir David, whose career has spanned 60 years, added: “If I think I’m not producing commentary with any freshness... I hope I’d be able to recognise it before someone else told me.”
The brilliant thing about being a gay actor working with a straight female actress is that it’s quite relaxed. I’ve spoken to a few actresses I’ve had to kiss over the years, and they all say the same thing: Because I’m gay, there’s no part of their brain that thinks I might have an ulterior motive. So they’re able to let go. ROB MALLARD CORRIE STAR
