Police claimed a painting by French impression­ist Paul Cezanne, taken from Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum on New Year’s Eve, was likely to have been stolen to order. The picture, View of Auvers-sur-Oise, is worth more than £100 million today and is still one of the world’s top five most wanted stolen artworks.
