HEAVEN CENK FOR TOFFEES

-

EVERTON hope to finally agree a deal for Cenk Tosun after increasing their offer for the Turkey striker.

Goodison officials travelled to London yesterday to meet Fikret Orman, the president of Tosun’s club Besiktas, as they attempted to thrash out a fee near £25million for the 26-year-old (above).

There is confidence within the Toffees camp that a deal is close, after discussions moved towards an increase in the fee with achievementbased add-ons.

Tosun, who has scored 14 goals for Beskitas this season in 26 games, is regarded as the prime asset at the Turkish club, and the president made it clear before the London meeting he would not sell easily. Orman revealed he had already turned down a €35m (£31m) bid from China for the player, and added: “Cenk’s future is important for us.

“There is no finished situation right now. If the conditions are what we want, the transfer takes place.”

It is understood Besiktas did not demand the €35m from Everton in the meeting, although they were keen to increase the Blues’ base offer.

The Toffees had made an initial approach of £21m, but that was made up of a base offer plus add-ons.

Bestikas hope to push the base offer up to £21m, with add-ons hiking the final fee to around the £25m mark.
