Blair: Labour’s weakness on Brexit threatens to hurt UK

TONY Blair has blasted Labour over Brexit, warning the party’s “timidity” on the issue would damage Britain.

The ex-Labour PM said: “If Labour continues to go along with Brexit and insists on leaving the single market, the handmaiden of Brexit will have been the timidity of Labour.”

Mr Blair said he disagreed with Labour’s stance “strategically”, as was “mistaken” tactically. He said: OPINIONS Ex-Premier Tony Blair “Because the Labour Party is saying that we too would do Brexit, we cannot attack its vast distractive impact.” Mr Blair said it would be “far better to fight for the right for the country to re-think”, and demand full details of the new relationship with the EU before leaving. People living in the county where they were born were 7% more likely to back Brexit than those who had moved away, a study by the LSE found.
