TRUMP and ex-chief strategist Steve Bannon were so close they had dinner nearly every evening, the book claims.

If the pair didn’t eat together, usually around 6.30pm, Trump would retire to his quarters where he allegedly ate cheeseburgers from his bed, sometimes watching three TVs while ranting about the media in phone calls to pals.

Bannon is quoted as describing the meeting at Trump Tower between a Russian lawyer and the President’s eldest son Don Jnr, Jared Kushner and former campaign chairman Paul Manafort as “treasonous”.

It led to Trump on Wednesday dismissing the man credited with getting him elected. He then called Bannon an aide who had “very little to do with our historic victory” and who had now “lost his mind”. Trump’s lawyers yesterday hit Bannon with a “cease and desist” letter threatening legal action against him. The book states Trump was never shy about insulting Bannon. According to Wolff, he said at one point: “Guy looks homeless. Take a shower, Steve. You’ve worn those pants for six days.”
