Carer ‘killed by torturers’

A KIND-hearted former carer was tortured to death by two neighbours desperate for money for drugs, a court was told.

Jonathan Herd, 44, had 115 injuries after he was stabbed, beaten, jumped on and had an earlobe cut through, it is claimed.

Michael Pickering, 30, and Leon Wilkes, 37, allegedly fled his home with an Xbox, £40 and other items.

The men, from Oldham, Gtr Manchester, deny murder and the case at the city’s crown court goes on.
