MOTHER!
Cert 18
Digital Monday, disc January 22 Jennifer Lawrence is incredible in this fist-in-the-mouth horror, which was easily the most divisive film of last year.
A modest £32million box office was a poor return for this remarkable movie. Identified only as Mother, Lawrence seems to have an almost supernatural connection to the grand old farmhouse she is lovingly restoring.
However, she’s thrust into a maelstrom of brilliantly staged chaos when strangers arrive, turning her home into a nightmarish fantasy of biblical madness. Javier Bardem oozes narcissistic charm as Lawrence’s writer husband, and Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer provide strong support. I loved it.
