Helena takes on TV crown of Margaret
HELENA Bonham Carter will play Princess Margaret in the next series of The Crown, which shows the royals in middle age.
The star, 51, will take over from Vanessa Kirby. Olivia Colman, 43, replaces Claire Foy as the Queen.
An actor to take on Matt Smith’s Prince Phillip is still to be named.
A source said: “Vanessa has been wonderful in the role but we think Helena is an ideal replacement.”
Writer Peter Morgan said: “You can’t ask someone to act middleaged. The feelings we have as 50-year-olds are different to the feelings we all have as 30-year-olds.”
The show is one of Netflix’s most expensive, the first series costing a reported £100million.
