Joint relief in ‘superblood’

-

THE beach made famous by hit crime drama Broadchurch is unrecognisable after a major makeover – and the culprit is Storm Eleanor.

The 80mph winds washed away masses of shingle at Eype, near West Bay, Dorset, leaving it flat and sandy. Graham Dannan, owner of the Eype House Caravan Park, said: “It’s amazing how much the beach changed overnight, I can’t quite believe it.

“During a storm waves have more energy, which drags the stones off into the sea.”

But he expects the shingle to return – and this is good news for the fragile sandstone cliffs, which now have less protection from the sea. The beach was a regular features in ITV’s Broadchurch, which starred David Tennant and Olivia Colman.
