Readers rush to give Ronnie a home

-

PET lovers are clamouring to take in the first puppy left at a rescue centre in 2018.

Eight-week-old mongrel Ronnie was bought online but his owner was unable to look after him after losing their home.

But since the lovable pup featured in yesterday’s Mirror, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home has “a long list” of potential new owners. Staff member Alice Holt said: “He’s so affectionate – even with new people – and loves a cuddle and a fuss.

“He loves playing with toys and running round the kitchen. He’s such a sweet boy.”

Bosses at the shelter warned: “Ronnie is just one of many thousands of dogs who will be bought off an unregulated website.”
