SABIRI HAILS TERRIERS AS THEY DIG IN

-

ABDEL SABIRI admitted Huddersfield endured a difficult afternoon before they turned things around at Bolton.

The Terriers scored two goals in two second-half minutes through Rajiv van La Parra and Danny Williams before Derik Osede pulled one back.

And Sabiri, who was making a rare appearance and was also criticised by Bolton boss Phil Parkinson for a dangerous challenge on David Wheater, said: “I am very happy as it’s important to get into the next round. We performed well.

“It’s hard to play against them because they were strong and we had to wait and be patient for them to lose their condition and focus to create our chances.

“It’s always important to play and to help the team, so I was happy the head coach gave me the chance to play.”

Parkinson is already looking towards Bolton’s Championship survival bid.

He said: “We’ve got a good week now to build up to Brentford away.

“We can hopefully get the loan players we’ve been missing today back with us which will be key, look at the injuries we’ve got and make sure that we’ve got a good number of players to choose from next weekend.”

Van La Parra (celebrating above with Terence Kongolo) bundled in the Terriers’ opener from a corner and, straight from kick-off, Williams’ deflected 30-yarder doubled the lead before Derik’s header kept the hosts in it.
