BORDER guards are to crack down on potentially fatal laser pens being smuggled into Britain.

Airlines reported 1,258 incidents, mainly at Heathrow Airport, in 2016.

And there have been more than 150 cases of eye injuries since 2013, with children mainly the victim.

Consumer Minister Margot James said yesterday: “We are going further than ever before.”
