Overhaul for cops monitor

-

A REVAMPED police watchdog launched today will be more accountable to the public, ministers say.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct, which replaces the Independent Police Complaints Commission, can launch its own probes without relying on a force to refer a case.

Policing Minister Nick Hurd said it would “make the police complaints system more transparent”.

IOPC chief Michael Lockwood said it was “a truly independent body”.
